Hibiscus – Antioxidant-rich and oh-so tasty! Known by many herbalists as the Botox plant due to its anti-aging benefits. It’s high in vitamin C, which studies have shown to support collagen production. Hibiscus supports the body’s elastin production, keeping the skin firm and healthy. It also increases circulation and can have a positive effect on blood pressure, making it a useful aphrodisiac too.
Nettle – Nutrient-packed and anti-inflammatory. High in iron, vitamins C, A, E, & K, magnesium, calcium, silica, and potassium, to name a few. Nettle supports the body in many ways but was chosen for this blend because of the vitamins and minerals, that support healthy hair, skin, and nails.
Oat Straw – Another nutrient-dense herb! Traditionally used to calm an overactive nervous system resulting in stress, anxiety, insomnia, and exhaustion. High in vitamins and minerals to support overall health and wellness.
Gotu Kola - An Ayurvedic herb used commonly as food and to create a calm mind before meditation. It's said to activate the crown chakra. In India, elephants have been observed eating this wild herb. Perhaps relating to their keen intelligence and memory! This rejuvenating herb has many benefits, from digestion to brain health. High in vitamin C, Gotu Kola increases collagen production, firming tissue (skin and gut), as well as increasing circulation.
Red Rose Petals – A symbol of love and beauty. In Ayurveda, this herb balances all doshas, but is specifically good for Pitta (excess heat). It’s high in antioxidants, vitamin C, A, and other trace minerals. Increases blood circulation and is good for both the physical heart and emotional. Known to evoke feelings of love, for others and self!
Red Rooibos – A popular coffee alternative. This herb is high in antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, and anti-aging. High in vitamins and minerals supporting overall hair, skin, and nail health.
Rose Hips – The fruit of the rose bush. This tart, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory herb is high in vitamins C, A, B (1,2, & 3) and K. Supporting the immune system as well as collagen production (remember the relationship between vitamin C and collagen production mentioned earlier).
Horsetail – Traditionally used for urinary complaints in higher doses. I chose to add Horsetail for the high silica content, a mineral found in hair and nails. It strengthens connective tissues, and hair follicles, and supports collagen production. Horsetail makes a wonderful hair rinse.
